Professional, responsive, efficient and dynamic are few words that can only describe Jason Mitchell. As a seasoned Wedding & Event Planner for three decades, I've come across many DJ "wanna' be's" in my career. I for one am very particular and selective about my exclusive list of Preferred Vendors. For anyone to be on this list, you know they would have to be better than best. Jason Mitchell has an impeccable taste and an extensive repertoire of music, creating the kind of fun and celebratory atmosphere everyone looks for. Armed with an electrifying energy to keep the party going, he pleases a cross section of personalities and ages without having to bore you or play the predictable tunes. He listens carefully to the client's music preferences and requests, and does a stellar job of reading the crowd, keeping the dancefloor packed and the crowd pumped. A terrific Party Host, articulate to his words - and definitely not your "Mr. Microphone". We recently hired Jason at Music Solutions for our wedding this past June. He was by far one of the our Best Vendors that we had at our wedding. Jason was very attentive and thorough with the DJ planning aspect. Like for instance there was a specific trumpet music that we were looking for. When we called Jason to notify him of the music or sound that we were looking for, he was quick to jump right on it to try a find what we had in mind. Also whenever we tried to contact him about any questions or concerns we had and was unable to reach him, he returned are calls asap (within the hour). Jason was willing to travel for us on two separate occasions. One was to meet with us to see the venue where we were getting married and at that time we were able to discuss the set up and contract. The second time was on the day of the wedding. During the wedding Jason was able to pronounce everyone first and last name correctly as well as having the ability to read the crowd and tailor the music accordingly. We Researched many different DJ companies and found that Music Solutions prices were very reasonable for what they had to offer. His equipment was top of the line. Again Jason thanks for making our day so special.

We booked Jason for our wedding in Sonoma in August '10.  I was terrified in booking a vendor that I hadn't met, but obviously we needed a DJ.  Jason was very personable and quick to respond to any questions that I had.  I can honestly say that I don't think we could have made a better choice.  Jason worked with me from the beginning, always there for any little question or concern that I had.  As our wedding date approached, Jason was incredibly helpful with music selections for the ceremony.  He called me the day before the wedding while in his car and helped me pick the best song EVER for my walk down the aisle!  On the day of the wedding, Jason was set up at the venue before I even arrived and was ready to go with everything we needed and more.  He even sent me a text while I was locked away in the bridal suite assuring me that everything was set to go!  
We gave Jason free reign to turn our reception into a romantic dinner and cocktail hour, then a true party afterwards.  He did an amazing job.  Our dance floor was full the entire reception.  I cannot thank Jason enough for the wonderful job that he did and his personalized service.

I highly recommend Jason for any event. He was my DJ for my wedding and he was so extremely easy to work with. We had a traditional Hindu ceremony and a "mixed" reception and he utilized the music we gave him perfectly. He truly paid attention to my specific song requests and was amazing playing the music for a "secret dance" my sister & I performed. Of course as most brides, I had a million last-minute questions (literally- 3am in the morning!) and he was always quick to respond to any concerns and requests. Jason is not only down-to-earth, but also truly professional; he's amazing to work with without a doubt!

DJ Jason DJ'ed our wedding out in Walnut Creek, CA on 9/5.  Prior to to the wedding, Jason was really easy to get a hold of for questions and worries (via phone, texting, and email).  Oh, please keep in mind we live in New York, and were organizing the wedding long distance.  Jason was super accomodating, affordable, professional, and comfortable to work with.  A few notes:

Timing: 
Jason had the timings down for some really specific requests.  We wanted a particular part of a particular song played for our entry, and he did it as I had imagined, and then repeated just the right parts.  We also asked him to abruptly change from a slow dance to hip hop, and he transitioned it really well.

Sound Quality:
Jason set up two of his vertical speakers, which seemed plenty loud enough for the whole room to hear us...but some people in the back said they had some trouble hearing the MC (300 people capacity in square room, 268 in attendance).  During the dancing, the music was plenty loud enough.  

Music Selections:
We had a Hawaiian accented wedding, and during dinner, asked for some rather specific/obscure Hawaiian music, he accommodated and provided.  Same for our first song, it was definitely not a pop song.  He certainly had the latest dance music that we were looking for as well.  

Working with Jason:
Seriously, zero problems.  I bombarded the poor guy with a billion emails, and he handled all of our requests.  ADDED BONUS: Jason threw up 6 or 8 uplights for free, as well as some ceiling light things that act like disco balls for dancing, also for free.  

I'd definitely recommend Jason for any events.

As a school administrator, we've had a lot of trouble hiring DJs for our dances. Every DJ we hired either wouldn't take requests, or didn't play up to date music that our students like. Attendance to the dances really suffered as a result, as students simply weren't willing to purchase tickets. 
I called Music Solutions DJs and spoke with Jason the owner. He was super friendly, and said he'd take requests and had experiences with school dances with 500 plus people. 
I've been going out in SF for many years and attended many Weddings over the years as well. I've seen my share of DJs both good and bad during that time. I must say, DJ J-AM was absolutely awesome. He took nearly 200 requests in 2 1/2 hours, and mixed it in smoothly. I was very impressed. 
Their dance lighting package was awesome as well. Our kids love a dark setting for the dances, and the dance lighting really set the mood that we wanted: FUN! 
At the end of the night I signed Jason up for our other 3 dances this year. Having hired lots of DJs over the years, their prices are really low for what they're charging. Great experience, and highly recommended.

I recently saw Jason, the owner of Music Solutions, DJ an event at Club Auto Sport in San Jose. There were around 500 people there and he had them dancing from start to finish. He played to the crowd, primarily contemporary hip hop, new stuff, and some hyphy hits. 
Jason did an outstanding job: he let his tunes get everyone dancing. He plugged into the Club's massive sound system, but brought his own monitors. He looked very comfortable on stage and everyone was very happy. I liked how he had all the new music you hear on the radio stations. His mixing was great, and all his transitions were smooth and dance friendly. 
I spoke with Jason after the event. He was very friendly, and answered all my questions about how to become a DJ. He works incredibly hard at what he does, and it shows in his performances. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Jason or any of the DJs who work for him for my private event.

I would highly recommend Jason at Music Solutions for any special event. He will make your event planning so much easier.
Having transplanted down to LA, I had no idea who to turn to for DJing an event I was planning in the Bay Area (where I'm from originally).

So, I contacted several reputable DJ's (per Yelp) in the San Francisco area. Some were okay, but sounded out of touch with current music. A couple were VERY flakey, not even bothering to return a call or call back when they said they would. Some were super ARROGANT (like so many other reviews on DJ's on here) and talked to me like I was being hired by them (WHAT?!). To round it out, some were just not very helpful in their planning or communication skills -- something I very much needed and didn't have time to waste.

Jason over at Music Solutions DJ Service was the opposite of all those negative qualities. He was very professional, personable and great at planning a fun night with a bunch of old friends getting back together. His music library was excellent too. When I asked him for some obscure stuff, he knew exactly what I was talking about and I could tell if he hadn't, he'd go look into it for me and get me what I needed. 

I would highly recommend he and his company to any of my friends (already have) and to you reading this as well.

Jason at Music Solutions is a great choice for your private event. I have seen Jason perform several times at bars throughout SF, and he puts on a confident and seamless show. I understand he now mainly does private events ranging from weddings, graduation parties, and bar mitzvahs. 

I should add that I have known Jason for 18 years and he is an honest and trustworthy businessman with a good character. Based on my interactions with him, I am confident he would treat your private event with the attention to detail and effort it deserves.
